Back in those heady days of 2009, I started the Chromatic Verse Project.
I was inspired in large part by the art of Kristen Jongen, who paints a beautiful clash of microfiction and imagery. I created ten hybrids, as I call them, and did extensive research on materials, vendors, exhibits, etc. I also applied several times to be a vendor at Second Storie, but was not accepted. I listed my wares on Etsy for about a year, but never made a sale. After a few years, an enormous amount of time, and a considerable amount of money spent, I got too discouraged and quit.
I’m relaunching because:
- Although some of you know I dabbled in art (I was promoting my store back in 2013), many of you probably don’t, and you may like my things!
- I’m getting excited about painting again in a way I haven’t been for quite some time.
- This point is much less romantic than the previous one, but…well…my financial situation. I’m currently borrowing cash to stay afloat. I have enough for the next month or so, but obviously I’m worried.
The prints I’m offering are actually photographs, printed on Kodak Endura Metallic photopaper. This paper comes on six-foot rolls and is generally only used by printing houses. Exposure to light makes all the colors even more vibrant. I know everyone says “The picture doesn’t do it justice,” but REALLY, y’all, it doesn’t. I wish there was a good way to show you what they look like in a frame where the light can reach them.
I am planning to start Series II soon, probably starting with this one if Worldbuilders doesn’t pick it up.
I currently have 11 X 14s up for sale, which come bagged and boarded. If you enjoy my work and would like a smaller (and cheaper) size, let me know and I’ll see what it would cost to order one for you.
And maybe this style of art isn’t your thing–but if you know someone who might like it, consider sharing the link with them? I so love the thought of something I made hanging in a person’s home!!
I now return you to your regularly-scheduled reality, and I thank you for your kind attention during this PSA.
